New to the KMS Outdoors Blog: Reflections

I’ve hit that point of my life where I can’t stand quietly and watch when I could be doing something to better a situation.

The feeling has popped up over the years. I wrung my hands often, wondering what could I possibly do about {insert topic here}. In the last 12 months I’ve felt it keenly after the mass shooting in Florida, during the U.S. Election, and now in the days after when it seems humanity has run amok.

In this space I will write about issues that are important to me: gun laws, human rights (including women, indigenous people, the LGBTQ+ community, and organizations striving to remove racism & bigotry from society), immigration, and the environment. I will take action with organizations that support these causes. I know that I can’t “do it all”. I will have to choose and I will have to be okay with not doing it all.

I will post here. I will share on social media other people writing on these issues. I expect there will be shared ideas, disagreements, and perhaps even changed minds (mine included).

I’m on the lookout for reputable sources of information. If you have one you’d like to share, please feel to forward it along to me.

Thank you in advance for your support.
