As I sit in my tent and write this post by the light of my headlamp, I look at the notes I jotted down about Rios Tropicales’ ecolodge and notice that I was writing by the light of a warm vanilla candle.
We bumped along the winding road that would take us to Rios Tropicales whitewater rafting put-in along the Pacuare River.
EARTH University was founded in 1990 near Limón as a collaboration between the government of Costa Rica, the Kellogg Foundation, and USAID. Its primary purpose is to promote sustainable development practices.
Costa Rica is a country at a crossroads with its tourism industry. I spent a week learning more about ecotourism and helping to facilitate a Rainforest and Tropical Science course for Algonquin College in the Ottawa Valley.

After exploring the Annapolis Valley and Lunenburg and Peggy’s Cove, Russ and I drove up Highway 103 to Halifax to wind down our Nova Scotia road trip.
Russ and I set out on a spectacularly bright May morning to drive the backroads from Wolfville to Lunenburg.
